Graveside funeral services for William Gregory “Greg” Gilbert, 73, of Heath, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark, at 11 A.M., Thursday, July 23, 2026, with Fr. Thomas Gardner as celebrant.

Greg, a 1970 graduate of Heath High School, died at his residence on July 12, 2026. He was born in Newark, Ohio on July 20, 1952, to Patricia (Patrick) of Newark, and the late William Gilbert.

Greg worked in the sales department of Carter Lumber and was known for his strong work ethic. He enjoyed taking on mowing jobs after his retirement. Greg was also a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Church, where he served faithfully as an usher.

Greg was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds. He was a proud supporter of his grandchildren’s athletic teams and enjoyed going to Newark High School basketball games. He attended the Little Brown Jug harness races for the last 42 years.

In addition to his mother; Greg is survived by his children, Steve (Heather) Gilbert and Jason Gilbert (Lisa Wilson); his grandchildren, Meghan, Ty, and Draven; and his brother, Mark (Geri) Gilbert.

In addition to his father, Greg was preceded in death by his brother, John Gilbert.
