Graveside funeral services with military honors celebrating the life of William "Billy" Canale, 82, of Newark, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 1 P.M., Thursday, April 22, 2021, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.  Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

William, a former parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church, died at Altercare Newark North on July 21, 2020.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on April 19, 1938, the youngest of 8 children to the late Jean C. and Catherine N. (Deime).

He was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and United States Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Cavalier.  Following his service with the Navy, Billy returned home and began working at Owens Corning where he was employed until his retirement.

Billy will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, great nephew and their families.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph R. Canale, Francis L. (Betty) Canale, John "Jack" C. (Margaret) Canale, and James E. (Ella May) Canale; sisters, Jean A. Canale, Rita C. (Bob) English, and Marie E. (Edward) Doneff.

The family would like to thank all of Billy's caregivers for the great care they gave to Billy while he was still in his home.
