Funeral services celebrating the life of William "Buck" "Bill" A. Whipkey Jr., 63, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Friday, November 19, 2021, with Ken Heiney as celebrant. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Bill, a 1977 graduate of Lakewood High School, died at Cleveland Clinic on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on July 27, 1958, to Carolyn (Dotson) Whipkey of Newark, and the late William A. Whipkey Sr.
Whether you called him William, Buck, Bill, Papaw, BillyBob, or Billy, he was the Best! He retired as the Building Services Supervisor from the Licking County Library where he served for 5 years. Prior to this, Bill spent 30+ years with R.R. Donnelley where he enjoyed working on any temperamental equipment if the opportunity presented.
A gentle natured man, Bill was dedicated to any task set before him, be it working on cars, household projects, or woodworking. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, always supporting their endeavors, and traveling with his wife
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 14 years, Debra "Debbie" (Werner) Whipkey; daughter, Elizabeth (Charles) Gresham; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Whipkey and Kyler Gresham; sisters, Deborah Whipkey (Tammy Hayslette), Sue Anderson, and Teresa Whipkey; brothers-in-law, Troy (Cathy) Werner and Rob (Kathy) Werner; father-in-law, Roy Werner; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many amazing friends.
In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tim Anderson; and mother-in-law, Lucille Werner.
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 5-7 P.M., Thursday, November 18, 2021.
