A Funeral Mass for Walter Joseph Williams, 68, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 18, 2016 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Joe, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at the Kindred Care Center on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born in Newark, Ohio on October 2, 1947 to the late William Charles and Evelyn Juanita (Thompson) Williams.

Joe was a 1965 graduate of Newark High School and worked as a warehouse supervisor at Mid-Ohio. He enjoyed having cookouts with his family, and was an avid volunteer with Hospice of Central Ohio and the Licking County Food Bank.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Fran (Fox) Williams; his siblings, Sheryl Miller, Charlene (Don) McLaughlin, Sandi (Dave) Burford, and Ronnie Williams; step-children, Jason (Jaime) Sturgill and Justin (Traci) Sturgill; step-grandchildren, Cain, Hayden, Cayden, and Connor Sturgill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joe (Jill) Bending, Sandy (Joe) Brown, and Carol (Lamoine) Koehler; several nieces and nephews, including Hunter; and his beloved pup, Maggie Sue.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Williams; niece, Jackie Sue Rice; and sister, Karen Sue Hanger.
