A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Angela Trapani, 95, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 40 Granville St., Newark, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA., 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Virginia died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, surrounded by those she loved. She was born in New Kensington, PA on October 10, 1923 to Angelo and Maria (Lecca) D'Achille, and grew up with her 9 siblings in Arnold, PA.

On June 10, 1949 she married Salvatore "Sam" Trapani at Mount Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington, PA. Settling there, they raised a family and built a plastering business. After many years of hard work, they were able to make several trips back to Italy to visit family and friends. Virginia lived in their home at 523 Linden Ave. for a little over 50 years, after which she went to live with her daughter Susan and her family in Newark, Ohio.

Virginia was first and foremost a loving mother to her family. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's contracting business for many years. While in New Kensington she was a member of Mount Saint Peter's Church and would volunteer at the school's cafeteria. She was also a longtime member of the "Daughters of Labor" of the Columbian Federation in Arnold, PA. Her friends called her "Virg" and if you were to visit her home, there would always be a pot of coffee and homemade pizzelles waiting for you.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Tim) Wegner, Barbara (Sam) Dugan, and Susan (Ed) Martine; her grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Shaeffer, Natalie (Dan) Claude, Amanda (Tom) Blum, Jocelyn Dugan, Claire Martine and Sam Martine; and 4 great-grandchildren, Emily Shaeffer, Vic Claude, Jade Vena, and Catherine Blum.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Sam, and her 9 siblings.

The family requests memorials in Virginia's name be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058.
