A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Veronica Sforza, 68, of Newark (Toboso area), will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 15, 2020, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Veronica passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born December 21, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Agnes (Rodgers) Moore. She moved to Newark in 1961 and graduated from Newark High School in 1970.

Veronica was employed as a legal secretary and administrative assistant working previously for McDonald, Robinson, & Spahr law firm for approximately 8 years, Morrow, Gordon, & Byrd law firm for more than 20 years, and for Judge David Branstool in Licking County Municipal and Common Pleas Courts from 2003 until her retirement in November, 2014.

Veronica is survived by her loving husband, Larry L. Sforza, whom she married on May 8, 1971. Veronica and Larry would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this coming May. She is also survived by her three children: Trent (Courtney) Sforza, Barb (Mark) Stough, and Craig Sforza and 5 grandchildren: Lexie Stough, Rylee Stough, Colby Stough, Mason Sforza, Brody Sforza, and Lora Spicer who all reside within one mile of her home. Veronica was the oldest of three children and leaves behind her sister, Patricia Law, and brother, Wayne Moore, in addition to many brothers-in-law and sisters-in law that were more like brothers and sisters to her: Bob (Vicki) Sforza, Diane (Frank) Bruckelmeyer, Mel (Jack) Sforza, Tony (Melissa) Sforza, Betty Jo Schrider, Becky Sforza, and Brenda (Mark) Hite and numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friend and gambling buddy Brenda Billman. She was preceded in death by her mother Agnes Moore, mother and father-in-law Johanna (Annie) Sforza and Alfred Sforza, brothers-in-law Neil Wood and Rick Sforza, sister-in-law Barb Kidner, and honorary grandson Steven Jervis.

Veronica radiated kindness and had a passion for helping others, which was evident in the many years she assisted with the Black Hand Gorge festival and her volunteer work at the Licking County Aging Program. Veronica was honored with induction into the Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame and by The Licking County Task Force on Aging in 2017. She was also involved with the Interfaith Pro Bono Legal Clinics and Karis' Cause, which is part of the American Childhood Cancer Organization, helping to raise $20,000 with her close friend Pearl O'Donnell by making and selling Buckeye candies each year.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 3-7 P.M., Monday, December 14, 2020 with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.  Masks are required and social distancing without lingering is requested.
