A Funeral Mass for Travis Jay Johnson, 38, of Gahanna, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 9, 2017 with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Travis joined his grandparents on Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 27, 1979 to Dale Johnson and Debra Bandy.
Travis attended Gahanna High School and was a graduate of Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical School. As a talented craftsman and woodworker, Travis worked for many years in the lumber industry as a superintendent and salesman, currently with 5th Avenue Lumber, Columbus.
An outdoorsman, Travis enjoyed rock climbing, camping, and fishing. He had many friends and embodied a kind and gentle nature.
Travis is survived by his parents, Debra (Dean) Bandy of Gahanna and Dale (Charlotte) Johnson of Duncan Falls; children, Tyler, Nolan, and Hayden; his brother, Wesley (Kelley) Johnson; his sister, Stacey (Rick) Gruly; many aunts, especially Jeannie Parkinson, uncles and cousins.
Travis was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth (Mary Jane) Johnson; maternal grandparents Gerald L. (Iona) Huffman I.; and cousin, Gerald L. Huffman III.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
