Private graveside services celebrating the life of Traian C. Vance, 91, of Newark, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant.  Military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Traian, a United States Airforce Korean War Veteran, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 2, 2024.  He was born in Lorain, Ohio on August 21, 1932, to the late Teodor and Amalia (Faher) Vancs.

A graduate of Lorain High School, Traian received his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Journalism from Ohio University and was retired from Rockwell/ Meritor. He was a longtime devoted parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for over 50 years.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Joan (Kiska) Vance; children, Paula (Tom) Lehman, Bill (Melissa) Vance, and Pam (Tony) Gialdini; 5 grandchildren, Brianne (Matthew) Paternoster, Andrew Vance, Kylie (Spencer) Magers, Nicholas (Ally) Gialdini, and Matthew Gialdini; 1 great grandchild (with 2 more on the way), Bristol; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Traian was preceded in death by his 12 siblings.
