Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas L. Snider, 82, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 28, 2022, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant and Fr. Anthony Lonzo as concelebrant.  Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany, 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Tom died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2022.  He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 7, 1939, to the late Ralph J. and Emma (Conroy) Snider.

Tom graduated from Aquinas High School (Columbus) and attended The Ohio State University.  He was employed at WTVN-TV and later joined the OSU Department of Photography as a film editor.

He was drafted into the US Army '63 and served in Vietnam (39 th Signal Bn.) and Ft. Jay in NY.  After receiving his honorable discharge, Tom resumed his career as a film editor at the Dept. of Photography & Cinema.  Tom spent 25 years editing and producing educational films, documentaries and the Buckeyes yearly football highlights including "Ohio State '68" (which was produced in 1988 from historical football footage).  He also inspired film students in the editing of their own films.  Tom retired in 1990 from OSU.  Following, Tom received his Real Estate license and became a member of the Columbus Board of Realtors from 1995-2013.  Finally, after working part-time at three Sears stores over the years, he retired in 2019 at age 80.

Tom was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Newark, and a founding member of the Catholic Churches and Knights of Columbus in Gahanna and New Albany, participant in Cum Christo.  He was a member of KoC in Newark, Council 721 and also a member of AMVETS Post 51 in Thornport.

He will be greatly missed by his lovely wife, Kathleen (Johnson Ostrander) Snider; sons, Michael T. (Jodi) Snider of Newark; step-son, Ronald (Dionne) Ostrander of Heath; 8 grandchildren, Rudy, Jason, Michael J., Sarah, Mary, and Joanna Snider, and Dylan and Ryan Ostrander.  He was loving Uncle to the families of Snider, Scranton, Rogers, Warner, Mazey, and Winewriter.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald J. (Jonell) Snider, John R. Snider; and sister, Rosemary (Richard) Scranton.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Friday, May 27, 2022, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
