A Funeral Mass for Therese Ann Giles, 87, of Heath, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 57 Dorsey Mill Rd., Heath, 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 17, 2015 with Fr. William Hritsko and Fr. Michael Reis as concelebrants. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
Therese, a 1946 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, was born in Lancaster, Ohio on May 17, 1928 to the late William J. and Catherine M. (Carlowe) Giles Sr. She died at The Chapel Grove Inn on Saturday, July 11, 2015.
Therese retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in 1986 after 40 years specializing in accounting and computers. She was a charter member of St. Leonard Catholic Church and a member of the 25 year Club. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and visited parish shut-ins for many years. Therese was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 25 years.
Therese was very athletic and loved sports. She was a Licking County tennis champion, playing singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. She also loved to play golf at The Links at Echo Spring. "Favorite Aunt Tan" was a loyal fan of Newark Catholic High School and loved watching the sporting events of her many nieces and nephews.
Therese is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Albert and Patricia Giles of Scottsdale, Arizona; James Anthony and Jeanne Giles of Newark; her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Jane and Michael Holly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; her brother-in law, John Ryan of Pataskala and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Therese was preceded in death by her brothers, William Giles Jr., John "Jack" Richard Giles; sister, Mary Catherine Ryan; and nephew, Dean Giles.
Therese's family and friends want to extend a special note of thanks to the caring staff of The Chapel Grove Inn.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
