Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Theresa Rosemary Richards, 88, formerly of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 with Rev. Edward L. Keck as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Theresa died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Cottingham Retirement Community in Cincinnati, OH where she had resided for the past 5 years. She was born in Newark, Ohio on July 27, 1927 to the late Michael and Theresa (Petrovich) Wessinger.

Theresa was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Ministry of Comfort working the funeral luncheons, and was a Woman of St. Francis.

She worked at H.L. Art Jewelers from 1966 to 1977 and retired from PacTec Industries where she worked from 1977 to 1995. Theresa also volunteered with Leads at Goodwill where she was awarded a plaque for her work, St. Peter and Paul Missionary Seminary, and assisted with many fundraisers at Newark Catholic High School and St. Francis de Sales parish.

Theresa, a kind, thoughtful and loving person, knew no stranger and was always willing to help. She loved to socialize and make new friends wherever she went, whether it be at the casino, playing bingo, or while dancing. She was an avid card player who frequently beat her opponents, especially at euchre. Above all, Theresa loved her family and enjoyed most the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Connie (Ken) Keck of Dayton, Anita (Rick) Ghiloni of Raleigh, NC, Frank (Sheila) Richards of Estero, FL, Margaret (Steve) Ungar of Cincinnati, and Jeff Richards of Newark; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Sue) Wessinger, Stephen Wessinger, and Frederick (Sue) Wessinger; sister, Anna Lucas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Lorraine; husband, Charles E. Richards; daughter-in-law, Tammy Richards; brothers, Joseph and Francis Wessinger; and sisters, Katherine Pfeffer and Elizabeth Braddock.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., on Monday, February 8, 2016 where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
