Terry H. Fiero, a longtime Newark resident, died on August 24, 2026 at age 80. He was active until the last days of his life, loving his family and living life to the fullest.

Terry was born April 20, 1946 in Ontario, Oregon to Bailey and Kathryn (Lale) Fiero. His mother married Nicholas Evans in February 1949 following the death of his father in November 1947. He attended grade and high schools in North Dakota, Montana, and South Dakota, graduating from Rapid City High School (South Dakota) in 1964. After they dated for 5 years, he married his high school sweetheart Pamela Steinmetz at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rapid City on January 25, 1968. Their beloved daughters Christina (Tina) and Tracy were born on September 9, 1968 and July 9, 1971.

Terry attended Colorado State University (Fort Collins) and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (Rapid City), graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in June 1970. He was a member of the Triangle Fraternity, the only social fraternity exclusively for men majoring in engineering, architecture, and the sciences. While at the Mines, he was also a member of the university choral group, the Singing Engineers.

After graduation, Terry and Pam moved to Midland, MI with their family to start his 28-year career with the Dow Chemical Company in 1970. They transferred to Newark, Ohio in 1984. While at Dow, he held a number of senior technical and business leadership positions in six technology areas that included specialty chemicals, plastics, and fabricated products. He was the inventor/co-inventor on three U.S. patents for paints and coatings materials, food additives, and fabricated products, and was involved in many professional organizations throughout his career. He retired from Dow Chemical in 1998. He then joined Renaissance Worldwide in Columbus, OH, where he was a Senior Business Management Consultant until 2001. In 2002, he was named the President and Chief Operating Officer for BizCarta Inc., a professional services company in Columbus, Ohio specializing in strategic planning, business processes, and information technology. There, he developed the proprietary ADEPT6SM business processes that were used to deliver these professional services. He retired from BizCarta in 2008.

Terry was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Midland, MI from 1970 to 1984, and St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark, OH from 1984 until his death. He was a member of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Alumni Association, a devoted supporter of Newark High School and the University of Michigan sports programs, and remained actively involved in the Licking County YMCA.

Terry was passionate about golf and doo-wop music from the 1950s and 60s. He also enjoyed gardening, self-improvement reading, and the special times together with Pam and his family and friends. In retirement, he founded Boom-Boom’s Invitational Golf and Social Society to celebrate these two passions with friends. One of his proudest awards was the “Raben” Lifetime Achievement Award given by the RCHS Class of 1964. He would like to be remembered as an individual who loved his family and was very loyal to his friends; believed that if something was to be done, it should be done right; and tried to leave this world a better place. He asks his family and friends to treasure the memories of their times together.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey and Kathryn; and stepfather, Nicholas Evans.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; two daughters, Christina (Tom) Gwynn and Tracy (Ron) Byerly; grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Byerly; sister, Pamela Evans Ph.D.; and brothers, William Evans and Dr. Duane Evans.

Visitation will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11 A.M., Thursday with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Private inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, OH.
