Susan W. Riley

A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan Weyand Riley, 82, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 9:00 A.M., Saturday, September 19, 2026, with Fr. Anish Thomas as celebrant. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery (Newark) will follow.

Susan, a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, died at her residence on Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was born in Syracuse, New York on April 20, 1944, to the late Donald and Susan (Reynolds) Weyand.

A graduate of South Onandaga (New York) High School and Hartwick College, Susan worked for many years as a Medical Technologist at Licking Memorial Hospital. She greatly enjoyed sewing, quilting, biking, and taking several memorable trips.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Riley; children, Michael (Hillary), Daniel (Ellen), Sarah (Nathan Long), and Bridget; grandchildren, Colin, Isabel, Liam, Sophie, Allison, Owen, and Ian; nieces and nephews; and brother, Donald Weyand.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara (Richard) Hartmann.
