A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan "Susie" D. Gualtieri, 66, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:30 A.M., Thursday, May 11, 2023, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas.

Susie, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on May 5, 2023. She was born in Fort Worth on May 16, 1956, to the late Harold G. (Sr) and Evelyn L. (Blodgett) Flory.

Susie was a Southerner's Southerner who wanted to be a cowgirl when she grew up. She also spent much of her childhood in Sarasota, Florida, before they ended up in Ohio. Susie was a 1975 graduate of Newark High School and attended The Ohio State University. She was naturally artistic and enjoyed photography and painting. Susie had a passionate enthusiasm for sharing local history. She was also an outspoken pro-life advocate and warrior for justice.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Jessika Gualtieri (Devin Keithley), James Gualtieri Jr (April Friedman), and Alyssa (Robert) McCauley; ex-husband and life-long friend James (Percella) Gualtieri Sr.; grandchildren, Sophia, Luca, Maelyn, and Broderick, and step-grandchildren, Adrian, Roger, and Jude; step-mother, Mary Elizabeth Flory; siblings, Jeanne Griffeth, Cynthia Bush, and Harold Flory Jr.; nieces and nephew, Elin Griffeth-Griffin, Heather Mills, Melissa Harris, Alicia Murdoch, and Josh Bush; and several much loved grandnieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-7 P.M., Wednesday, May 10, 2023, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M., with Ms. Cletus Petus as distinguished guest usher.
