A Mass of Christian Burial for Sherry Ann McClurg, 79, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 6, 2024, with Fr. Peter Claver as celebrant.

Sherry, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on May 27, 1945, to the late Mary Madelyn (Metzger) Strohl.

Sherry attended New Lexington High School and had worked at Owens Corning, Licking Memorial Hospital, and Target. Her favorite job was being a mother and creating a home for her family, whom she dearly loved.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Laura (Trent) Smith, Mark Fry, Lynn Fry, Ken (Jenny) Fry; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Patrick Friel and Ken Friel; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend Sue Miller.

In addition to her mother, Sherry was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul T. Huffman; her second husband, Harold "Mac" McClurg; her daughter, Kimberly Huffman; step-father, Bob Strohl; and sister-in-law, Grace Friel.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-6 P.M., Monday August 5, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 P.M. with her son-in-law, Trent Smith, as celebrant.
