Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sherry Barber, 80, of Newark, will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 2, 2022 with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant.  Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery where Sherry will be laid to rest with her husband and infant son.

Sherry passed away at her home on Sunday, November 27, 2022.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 9, 1942, to the late Charles J. and Marguerite "Peggy" (Bliss) Poulton.

Sherry was a 1956 graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and 1960 graduate of Newark Catholic High School.  She was a lifelong devoted parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was an active volunteer in many capacities over the years. She was also a member of the Blessed Sacrament Alumni Association.

Sherry earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from COTC in 1988. She worked 28+ years as an RN for Dr. John J. Passias of Ohio Health's Comprehensive Primary Care. Prior to that she worked at Doctors Hospital in the ER.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Timothy (Sandy) Barber, David (Tania) Barber, Sally (George) McKenzie, and Michelle (Gaston) Harris; her grandchildren, Calvin, Spencer, Quinn, Hannah, Drew, Max, Greysun, and Nicholas; her sisters, Sandy Quick and Patty Poulton; brother, Larry (Kathleen) Poulton; sister-in-law, Nancy Barber; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Don Barber; infant son, Christopher; and brothers-in-law, Ed Quick and James Barber.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
