Graveside funeral services celebrating the life of Shawn William Rey, 61, of Newark, will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 11 A.M., Tuesday, September 29, 2020, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.

Shawn, a 1978 graduate of Newark High School, died at Altercare North Newark on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on December 11, 1958, to Rosann (Fitzpatrick) Bourẽ of Newark, and the late Ronald J. Rey.

Shawn was retired from Walker Manufacturing where he worked for 20 years.  He had also worked as an electrician with his father for many years.

In addition to his mother, Shawn is survived by his sons, Joseph (Hope) Rey and Jacob Rey; grandsons, Aiden, Gavin, and Jack; sisters, Kimberly Harris, Alicia (Kevin) Brown, and Bridie Rey; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

I Made it Home

I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.

Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new.

I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too.

Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand.

God is taking care of me… I'm in the shelter of his hands.

Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain.

Here there is no crying, and I'll never hurt again.

Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing.

I really have to go for now… I've just got to try my wings.
