A Funeral Mass for Samuel Joseph DiGiando Jr, 63, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2018, with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant.

Sam, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2018.  He was born in Newark, Ohio on October 23, 1954 to the late Samuel J. and Olevia (Martino) DiGiando Sr.

A 1972 graduate of Licking Valley High School, Sam received his undergraduate degree from Franklin University and completed his Master's Degree at the University of Dayton. He worked for many years as a Chemical Dependency Counselor and was very devoted to his job and the many clients he helped over the years.

Sam was an avid Browns fan, enjoyed golf and playing cards, and was a friend of Bill for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah (Reed) DiGiando; daughters, Levia DiGiando, Regina (Allex) Hatfield, and Samantha DiGiando; 9 grandchildren, Victoria, Samuel "Joey", Evan, Brittney, Zander, Julia, Abriana, Allison, and Abram; his brother, Mark (Theresa) DiGiando; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 5-8 P.M., Tuesday, February 27, 2018, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
