A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth Ann Prichard, 83, of Newark, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 12, 2024, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Somerset.
Ruth, a 1958 graduate of Holy Trinity High School, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where Ruth had been receiving care since suffering a stroke on January 12, 2024. She was born in East Fultonham, Ohio on September 29, 1940, to the late Albert Oden and Margaret Cecilia (Snider) Hammer.
Ruth was retired from Licking Memorial Hospital where she worked for 30 years as a cafeteria cashier and in data processing, receiving an MVP award. As a longtime parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church, Ruth enjoyed helping her husband, Harvey, whom she married July 4, 1959, work in the parish flowerbeds. She enjoyed vacationing, caring for her daughter, Beth, and volunteered with Weight Watchers. She deeply loved her 4 grandsons and was known for making a great zucchini bread. Ruth was a member of Lake Isabella in East Fultonham, and her favorite flower was the sunflower that she loved planting to brighten her home.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Tina Marie (Christopher) Roberts of Frazeysburg and Mary Rene (David) Just Westerville; four grandsons, Chad Alan (Kari) Roberts, Joshua Scott (Alejandra) Roberts, Daniel Eugene Just and Mark Ross Just; sister, Catherine Josephine "Kitty" (Bill) Blosser; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Eugene Prichard; daughter, Beth Ann Prichard; brothers, James Albert Hammer and Thomas Pius Hammer; and sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Howard "Steve" Fetty.
