Wade died on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on August 28, 1935, to the late William Stanley and Rose (Williams) Hammond.

Wade attended Lash High School in Zanesville, Ohio, and was employed with Rockwell International for 30 years and Frueh Sheet Metal Company for 12 years. Following his retirement from Rockwell, Wade played an instrumental role in establishing the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry with his brother, Bill. He dedicated his retirement years to volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul.

He was an active and faithful parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he volunteered as a lector and was a member of their choir.  He was also a dedicated member of his local community, always willing to help those in need.

Wade was an avid runner and completed the Columbus Marathon in the early 80's. He also enjoyed cycling and exercising with his wife at the YMCA. Wade was an extraordinary craftsman. He was the project manager building their family dream home, completing a lot of the work himself. Wade loved working with his hands and could fix almost anything.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, Marcella (Kissick) Hammond; his children, Steve (Cynthia) Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Julia (Doug) Mann, Bernard (Karen) Hammond, Damian (Karen) Hammond, and Amy (Patrick) Reitter; grandchildren, Jade Howard, Wesley Sims, Melissa Laughery, Steven Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Lauren Hammond, Megann Rowley, Devinn Mann, Bryce Hammond, Evan Hammond, Ethan Hammond, Logan Reitter, Peyton Reitter; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Mae Hammond; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Helen) Hammond, William (Genoah) Hammond, Patrick Hammond, and Michael (Linda) Hammond.
