Funeral services celebrating the life of Rudolph "Rudy" Francis Sasko, 94, of Newark, will be held at REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2:30 P.M., Friday, June 23, 2023, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 1-2:30 P.M., prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans' Alliance.

Rudy served with the United States Armed Services for 20 years, beginning his career in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and retiring with the Air Force after serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then spent the following 20 years in civil service with Newark Air Force Base.

As an advocate for his fellow veterans, Rudy was instrumental in bringing the VA Clinic to Newark, Ohio. He held lifetime memberships in the VFW, DAV, AMVETS, and the American Legion. Rudy also volunteered with the Licking County Veterans' Alliance, the Licking County Veterans' Service Commission, and was a longtime active parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Irene M (Scholer) Sasko; his very much-loved sister, Anna Marie Renacci; children: Mark (Laura), Donna (Paul), Barbara (Scott), and David (Carla); 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews
