Funeral services with military honors celebrating the life of Roy Lee Atkinson, 89, of Heath, will be held at a later date.

Roy died at the Inn at Chapel Grove on Monday, April 27, 2020.  He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on October 1, 1930, to the late Roy and Beulah (Lawrence) Atkinson.

Roy was retired from Rockwell where he worked as the supervisor of Department 33.  Following retirement, Roy spent 10 years traveling with Nascar.  He was also a member of the God Wing Road Riders, Chapter O.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vallee´ (Noel) Atkinson; daughters, Jill Atkinson and Ginger (Richard) Zipf; grandchildren, Benjamin (Ashley) Zipf, Adam (Jillana) Zipf, Kaleb (Emily) Vermillion, and Jenna (Eddie) Ritter; great-grandchildren, Scott, Grayson, Raina, Eli, Julien, Ella, and Natieri; several cousins, especially Marc (Dorothy) Atkinson; and special longtime friends,

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Betty (Robert) Lipps.

The family requests that memorials in Roy's name be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058.
