Funeral services for Rosalie Hughes, 86, of Newark, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 1 P.M., Friday, June 6, 2025, with Chaplain Heather Hicks as celebrant. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Rosalie, a 1956 graduate of Newark High School, died at Otterbein of New Albany on Monday, June 2, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on October 13, 1938, to the late George Everrett and Oma May (Kennedy) Hughes.

Rosalie, an avid gardener who greatly enjoyed the outdoors, worked at Holophane for many years and was also secretary at John Clem Elementary. She was a former parishioner of Christian Endeavor United Methodist Church and later, Spring Hills Baptist.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Christine (Kenneth) Rogers, Shelley (Tom) Winkelhausen, and Monica (Scott) Garette; nieces and nephews, 7 grandchildren, Joshua (Miranda), Austin (Hailee), Danny (Ashley), Ashley (Mason), Cody, Logan, and Alexis; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Pettet; and brother, Gary Hughes.
