A Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald "Ron" Edward McKenzie, 76, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 23, 2026, with Fr. Ed Keck as celebrant. Calling will be held at the church for one hour prior to the Mass.

Ron, a 1967 graduate of Granville High School, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was born in Newark, Ohio on May 23, 1949, to the late Joseph I. and Olive M. (Codington) McKenzie.

Ron received his BS in Education from The Ohio State University and his Master's in Education Administration from Ashland University. He was employed by Newark City Schools, teaching Social Studies and Mathematics at the Junior High level for the majority of his career.

Ron was an avid supporter of his family and their children, attending many sporting and school events over the years. He loved vacationing with his family, especially enjoying their visits to the ocean. Ron held many dear friends that he felt blessed to have as a part of his life.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Mary Kay (Nally) McKenzie; children, Chad (Sonya), Matt (Kyla), Luke (Jennifer); Bailee and Austin McKenzie; grandchildren, Ian, Drew, Candace, Alivia, Boyer, Scarlet, Stella, Sienna, Aiden, and Blake; great-granddaughters, Khloe and Oakleigh; and several nieces.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his half-brother, Frank (Gwen) Williams; and nephew, Rod Williams.
