A Funeral Mass for Robert E. Marshall Jr., 67, of Thornville, will be held at St. Leonard Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 10, 2018, with Fr. Bill Hritsko as celebrant. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Bob, a United States Army Veteran, died at his home on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was born in Newark on March 30, 1951, to Louise "Liz" (Danese) Marshall of Heath, and the late Robert E. Marshall Sr.

Bob started his career as a firefighter when he began volunteering at age 16. Following his graduation from Heath High School in 1970, and his military service, Bob returned to the Heath City Fire Department. He retired in 1999 after 30 years of service, having risen to the rank of Captain. Bob was a member of the Volunteer Firefighters Association, AMVETS, VFW, and was past president of the Heath Local 2930. In addition to his service as a firefighter, Bob spent many hours farming his land and developing his agricultural interests.

The most recent joy in Bob's life came with the birth of his two granddaughters, who instantly stole his heart. He treasured their company and looked forward to their daily visits and conversations. Even though he had accomplished many goals throughout his career, Bob was most proud of his responsibilities bestowed him as "PawPaw".

In addition to his mother, Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Vickie (Coon) Marshall; his children, Michelle and Melissa Marshall, Misti (Tim) Fenneman and Warren McCord; his cherished granddaughters, Kolbie and Kamryn Fenneman; his sisters, Delores (Ron) Jones and Gini (Greg) Johnson; mother-in-law, Betty Ford; sisters-in-law, Jacki Mason (Mark Huggins), Debbie (Mike) Hostasa, and Kim Coon; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Bob was preceded in death by his niece, Heidi Johnson; and brother-in-law, Jeff Coon.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 3-7 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 where a prayer service will be held at 7 P.M.

The family requests memorials in Bob's name to the Heath City Fire Department where proceeds will be put toward a permanent memorial in Bob's memory.
