A Funeral Mass for Richard T. "Dick" Wade, 81, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 7, 2013, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Wade, a 1950 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, died at his home on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was born in Newark, Ohio on February 8, 1932 to the late Raymond C. and Mary E. (Gilmore) Wade.
Dick worked as a machinist at Owens Corning for 34 years where he was a member of the 25 Year Club and IAM. He also worked for 23 years at Main Hardware, where he always greeted everyone with a smile. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, and gardener. Dick enjoyed making wine, collecting antiques, but above all, cherished the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie L. (Colson) Wade, of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Julie Wade of Gaithersburg, MD, David R. and Lisa Wade of Granville, and Patrick J. and Brandi Wade of Newark; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Christine and Sean McNamara of Park Ridge, NJ; 13 grandchildren; his brother, Jim Wade of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Charles B. (Bertaline) Wade; his sister, Mary Martha (Thomas) Dunn; and his sister-in-law, Catherine Wade.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, where a Rosary will be held at 8:30 P.M.
