Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Richard Koch, 76, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 25, 2014, with Fr. Michael Reis as celebrant.

Richard, a United States Army Veteran, died at the Autumn Health Care Center on Monday, July 21, 2014. He was born in Allenville, Michigan on November 3, 1937 to the late Frank and Mary (Bloomfield) Koch.

He worked for 9 years as a distributor for the 7-Up Company, and 30 years with the Pepsi Company. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Newark Maennerchor.

Richard, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, was a 3rd Degree Member of Council 721 of the Knights of Columbus, and a 4th Degree Member of the Bishop J. Ready Assembly 830 of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Josephine (Korpieski) Koch, of the home; his children and their spouses, Michael and Whitney Koch, Mark Koch, all of Columbus, Kristina and Scott Walter of Chandler, AZ, John and Janet Koch of Newark, and Lori and John Wyatt of Westerville; his grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, Tyler, and Shannon; and niece and nephew, Roberta Morris and Michael E. Koch.

Richard is also survived his Reunion Group, a group of military friends that served in 1962 with the 66th Armored Division; and his Card Club, longtime friends gathered from the Indian Guides & Princesses Program.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kathy Koch.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 P.M., Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Honor Guard will be provided by the Knights of Columbus.
