A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Richard "Dick" Davis, 77, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 2, 2021, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. The funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Church of the Blessed Sacrament website: www.blsac.net.
Richard, a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, passed peacefully at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born in Newark, Ohio, to the late Frederick A. and Edna M. (Wahl) Davis on March 15, 1944.
Richard was a 1963 graduate of Newark Catholic High School and an outstanding player on the NC football team. While serving during the Vietnam War in the United States Army, he was awarded the Bronze Star. Richard worked for many years as a machinist at Owens Corning and Holophane; later he was the owner and operator of DAVCO Machine Specialty Shop.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Anneliese (Deimel) Davis; children, Bryan (Erin) Davis, Stefanie (Hermann) Schrag, Christopher Davis, and Robyn (Cornelius) Stewart; grandchildren, Liliana, Julius, and Konrad; one brother, two sisters, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth E. Davis, and William J. (Louise) Davis; sister, Patricia Rowley; and brother-in-law, Gregory Schell.
