Obituary

Funeral Services for Ralph W. Gebhart, 87, lifelong resident of Newark, will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive in Newark, with Deacon Patrick Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Ralph W. Gebhart, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his three daughters at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Born in Newark on October 9, 1930, to the late Ralph J. and Blanche (Nairn) Gebhart.

Ralph graduated St. Francis de Sales High School in 1949 and was a devout parishioner at St. Francis throughout his lifetime. He proudly served in the Air Force and worked many years for the family business, Gebhart's Dairy, and later at Matesich's Distribution until his retirement. Ralph enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, and watching Notre Dame football and old movies. His family will greatly miss his humorous and generous spirit.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Gebhart, Richard Gebhart, Bernard Gebhart, and Robert Gebhart; sisters, Dolores Gebhart Barclay, Elizabeth Gebhart Yonker, and Catherine "Casey" Gebhart Betz.

Ralph is survived by daughters, Louise (Harry) Clayton of Omaha, NE, Carol (Bob Mathie) Gebhart of Newark, OH, and Jane (Guy) Gosnell of Buchanan, MI and their mother, Cecile Turner; grandchildren, Christopher (Victoria DeLoa) Markle and Jennifer (Duane) Markle Chase; great grandchildren, Eva and Nicholas Markle, Colin and Lydia Chase; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank Nannette and Samantha at Bella Care Hospice for their outstanding care.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service, 9:30 - 10:30 AM, Monday, February 19, 2018 at REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive in Newark.
