Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Philip James Belmont Sr., 70, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 25, 2016 with Rev. JCP Sullivan Parish Priest, as celebrant and Fr. Michael Reis, Fr. Thomas Kamau, and Fr. Bill Hritsko as con-celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Philip died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20, 1945 to the late Louis W. and Henrietta F. (Tokarczyk) Belmont.

Phil, a spiritual man devoted to his faith, was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He received his BA and Masters in Education from Xavier University and held a Doctorate in Counseling from the National Board of Certified Counselors. He worked as a teacher for 30 years at Reading High School and then served in several administrative capacities within the parochial school system.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Norrocky) Long Belmont; his children, Philip (Madra) Belmont Jr. and Michelle (George) Allen; grandchildren Alanna and Ava Belmont, and Marcy and George Allen; siblings, William, Michael, Richard (Connie), Frank, Suzanne Belmont, Henrietta Heywood, Mary Masci, and Jean (Jim) Coldiron; his sister-in-law, Rosemary (Alfred) Bacchiocchi; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.

In addition to his parents, Phil was recently preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Estella Norrocky, who he was very close to.
