Newark

Funeral services for Paul A. Lent, 80, of Newark, will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 2 P.M., Thursday, May 14, 2026, with Pastor Peter Borhauer as celebrant. Graveside will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Calling will be held at the funeral home from 12 Noon-2 P.M., prior to the service.

Paul was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on August 14, 1945, to the late Melvin and Margaret (Callahan) Lent. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Paul was a United States Army Veteran, serving as a Staff Sergeant E6 during the Vietnam War, and a former member of the American Legion. He worked as Purchasing Manager at Rockwell International and was a member of the Rockwell Retirees. After retirement, Paul found a new passion in the world of antiques. He enjoyed attending auctions and sales, and turned his love of glassware into a successful business.

Outside of work, Paul loved spending time with his daughters. From father-daughter bowling with Jenn to supporting Kim throughout her athletic career, memories were made that will never be forgotten. He loved spending time with his granddaughter Kennedy and was very proud of her athletic and academic achievements.

Paul was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed golfing, although he wasn’t sure if it was more relaxing or frustrating. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time on the family farm. From hunting with family and friends to simply walking the fields, he felt at home there. Deer season was his favorite time of year. He would spend countless hours storytelling and reminiscing with family and friends about the adventures they had.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Eric) Bates and Kimberly Trapp; granddaughter, Kennedy Trapp; sister-in-law, Barbara Lent; brother-in-law, Frederick (Bonnie-Jean) Toth; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann Lent; and brothers, Gary, Dane, and D. Scott Lent.
