A Funeral Mass for Paul Benedict Hannigan, 93, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 26, 2015, with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Paul, a United States Navy WWII Veteran, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was born in Newark, Ohio on March 26, 1922 to the late William and Ann (Manning) Hannigan.

Paul was a 1942 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was retired from Dow Chemical where he worked for many years, most recently as an accountant and sales manager. He was a member and Past Grandmaster of the Newark Elks Lodge and volunteered for Licking Memorial Hospital and Right to Life. Paul enjoyed playing cards and spending time on the golf course.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary A. (Harnetty) Hannigan; his children, Dr. Patricia Hannigan (Bruce) Woodward, Daniel (Joann) Hannigan, David Hannigan, Rita (Mark) Stypula, David (Lori) Trembly, Jean Marie Trembly, and Bruce Trembly; his grandchildren, Sean, Geoffrey (Brittany), Christopher, Daniel, Andrew, Vincent, Arthur, Traci (Doug), and Sarah (Anthony); his great-grandchildren, Autumn and Jacob; his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Bernice Hannigan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta (Smith) Hannigan; and eight siblings; Bernard (Maxine), Lawrence, Margaret (James) Bradley, Charles (Evelyn), Mary Katherine (Bob) Ricketts, John (Margaret), Alice, and Joseph (Mary Helen) Hannigan.

Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
