A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia Louise Scott, 81, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 8, 2022 with Fr. Ed Keck as celebrant and Fr. Anthony Lonzo as concelebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Pat died at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, November 3, 2022.  She was born in Newark, Ohio on August 19, 1941, to the late Bernard L. and Martha L. (Moats) Gorius.

A graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary, Pat was a member of the first graduating class of Newark Catholic High School, Class of 1959, and also their first Homecoming Queen.

Following high school, Pat worked for a period of time at State Farm Insurance. She married her husband, Ken, in 1961 and together they started their family.  Once the children were of school age, Pat became the secretary at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School where she devoted many years.  In her retirement, Pat worked with her family at the Subway Sandwich Shop in Pataskala, which they built in the late 1990's.

Pat was longtime parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and active member of their choir, instrumental in the creation and release of their musical C.D.  She was also vital in the development of the Blessed Sacrament School Alumni Association, fulfilling many roles.

For 14 years, Pat joined her husband as an usher for the Notre Dame Football home games, driving to South Bend, Indiana each weekend during the fall season.  This became a tradition that she loved, making many friends who became extended family over the years.  For their 50 ^th Wedding Anniversary, Pat and Ken were surprised with a celebration on the campus grounds.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Scott; her children, Bert (Terri) Scott, Theresa Scott, Michael Scott (Paula Wood), Karen Brown, and Aaron Scott; 9 grandchildren, Ashley (Eric) Archer, Sarah (Gage) Litten, Joshua (Marlee) Brown, Kaycie Brown, Emily Brown, Lilly Scott, Dayne Scott, Amber Wood, and Lauren Lewis; 4 great-grandchildren with another on the way; her siblings, Rosemary Triplett, Theresa (Richard) Winters, Thomas (Terry) Gorius, and Robert (Cindy) Gorius; extended family, Monica Scott; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her son, Donald; brothers-in-law, Stephen Triplett and Fr. Don Scott.

Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, November 7, 2022, with a Rosary Service held at 6:30 P.M.
