A Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia R. "Patty" Murphy, 93, of Granville, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 12 Noon, Friday, November 21, 2025, with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant and Fr. Timothy Hayes as concelebrant. Calling will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Patty, a longtime devoted parishioner of St. Edward Church, passed away peacefully at her home in Granville on Friday, November 14, 2025. She was born on October 18,1932, to the late William J. and Marguerite (Phillips) Roney.

She attended Denison University and The Ohio State University. Patty was a vital support to her husband, Herb, during their 68 years of marriage and greatly enjoyed their many adventures traveling the world together. She enjoyed golf and was a lifetime member of the Moundbuilders Country Club. Patty was an avid reader and often played cards with several of her longtime friends.

Patty will be greatly missed by her five children, Dr. Kathleen Murphy, Marilyn (Jeffrey) Houck, Michael (Robin) Murphy, Patrick (Cathy) Murphy, and Roney (Nadine) Murphy; 7 grandchildren, Amber, Ryan (Mariah), Sarah (Joshua) Jones, Kelsey, Shawn (Britnee), Shannon (Colton) Nielson, and Collin; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemarie Eckman; sister-in-law, Kay Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Herbert James Murphy Jr.; brothers-in-law, Charles Eckman and Frank Murphy; and niece, Charlotte Petrie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patty's name to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 785 Newark Granville Road, Granville, OH 43023; or Ohio's Hospice Foundation, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
