A Funeral Mass for Norma Jean Rauch, 91, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 28, 2025, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Private inurnment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark, will be held at a later date.
Norma, a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at SharonBrooke Senior Living on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on December 11, 1933, to the late Guy Edward and Mary Rosella (Noll) Hillis.
A 1951 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Norma attended Mt. Carmel School of Nursing and received her RN Degree in 1954. She began her nursing career at the Newark Hospital where she worked as a surgical nurse and medical floor nurse. Following some time off to raise her family, Norma worked as an Occupational Health Nurse at Rockwell International and Kaiser Aluminum. In addition to her nursing career, Norma served as bookkeeper and partner with her husband at Kenny Rauch Plumbing and Heating.
Norma was a talented sewer, knitter and crocheter. She enjoyed refinishing and restoring old furniture, gardening, crafts, and oil painting. Above all, she cherished the time babysitting her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her 6 sons, Roderick, Andrew (Vicki), Gregory (Anissa), Philip, Carl (Melia), and Daniel; 13 grandchildren, Aiden, Christina, Jessica (Corey) Flanagan, Jeremy (Laura) Rauch, Sausha Rauch, Ryan (Kelly) Rauch, Jordan (Georgia) Rauch, Mauri Rauch, Rese Rauch, Venetia Rauch, Brandi Rauch, Matthew (Allisha) Rauch, and Karen (Kevin) Clark; 16 great-grandchildren, Cavin, Claire, Lorelai, Caed, Virginia, Reagan, Koen, McKinley, Cora, Hailee, Lydia, Jack, Iris, Kaleb, Khloe, and Kolin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny F. Rauch; daughter-in-law, Linda Rauch; brother, Donald Hillis; sisters, Margaret "Peggy" (Charles) Franks and Ruth (Thomas) Fetter; and nephew, Jim Fetter.
