A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Norma Jean Luzio, 96, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10 A.M., Friday, November 5, 2021, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.

Norma died at SharonBrooke Senior Living Center on Saturday,September 18, 2021.  She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 8, 1925, to the late Norman W. and Mary (Kappes) Kistler.

A 1943 graduate of Newark High School, Norma was formerly employed with Kaiser Aluminum and Pharis Tire & Rubber.  Most notably, Norma worked for many years as a secretary at Heath High School and the Joint Vocation School (currently C-TEC) where the students affectionately donned her with the nickname "Mom".

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and member of the LMH Twig where she volunteered as a purchaser for the hospital gift shop.  Norma also traveled with her husband to Florida where they wintered for 27 years.

Norma is survived by her son, Jon Luzio (Pat Mahieu); daughter, Joyce Francis; grandchildren, Christopher (Julie), Kyle, Kimberly, and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Archie Luzio; sister-in-law, Wilma Luzio; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog companion, Abeline.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Luzio; and son, Gary Luzio.
