A Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy Joan Gifford, 75, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Nancy, a 1966 graduate of Bishop Fenwick (Fisher Catholic) High School, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 5, 2024. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio on May 31, 1948, to the late Elmer and Ruth (Hyme) Tipple.
A parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Nancy was a member of the Women of St. Francis, Ministry of Comfort, Garden Committee, and Eucharistic Adorer. She was also a volunteer with the Licking Memorial Twig, Newborns in Need, and member of Monday Talks and the Newark Garden Club. She loved to crochet and made the absolute best pies. She retired from the United States Postal Service, Utica Branch.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Elizabeth (Greg) Gardner, John (Cathy) Gifford, and Catherine (Broc) Thompson; grandchildren, Evan, Robyn, Taylen, Tobi, Melissa and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, A.J. and Daxton; siblings, Joyce Althaus, Janet (Butch) Harris, and Mike (Mary) Tipple; sister-in-law, Shirley Tipple; many nieces and nephews; and many devoted and caring friends.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Gilbert (Linda) Tipple and Robert Tipple; brother-in-law, Bob Althaus; and former husband, Larry Gifford.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, February 12, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
