Obituary

Mimi Helen daMota, 68, of Granville, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Monday, July 19, 2022.  She was born in Mineola, New York on February 13, 1954, to the late Candido and Dona (Mc Roberts) daMota.

Mimi was a graduate of Trotwood Madison High School and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas, School of Nursing.  She worked as a geriatric nurse and most recently worked as a caregiver with Home Instead.  Her greatest joy came from caring for others.

Although she was small in stature, Mimi had a large personality.  She had a lifelong love of reading which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She lived for her granddaughters, whom she cared for from birth.  She always joked that she was born to be a "Mimi".  On June 26, 2022, Mimi gave her heart to the Christ, accepting His love and letting go of the doubt carried for many years.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Jennifer Amos Staten (Jonah) and Briana daMota; her son, Jeffrey Winn; grandchildren, Avery, Reese, Mason, Trevor, and Zachary; her siblings, Gary daMota, Glenn (Moira) daMota, and her dear friends, Teresa Knepfle, Sally Hocking, Hannah Jones, Karen Wiebolt, and Pam Wiebolt.

Mimi will be laid to rest in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery, The Bronx, New York.  There will be no services per Mimi's wishes.
