Funeral services celebrating the life of Maynard Jerome "Jerry" Duffey, 64, of Reynoldsburg, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11:30 A.M., Thursday, May 25, 2017 with Rev. JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Jerry, a graduate of Teays Valley High School, died at Mt. Carmel East Hospital on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 29, 1952 to Velma Jean (Forwald) Duffey of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and the late Paul Leo Duffey Sr.
Jerry served with the United States Navy for 10 years and then worked for the Naval Civil Service until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed golf, and sitting in his favorite chair watching NASCAR and The History Channel.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Michelle "Shelly" (Shepard) Duffey; his son, Jeremy Duffey (Tricia Vacca); his siblings, Theresa (Paul) Abbott, Paul Leo (Joann) Duffey Jr., and Maureen Duffey; his wife's family, Janis Shepard, Amy (Duane) McCartney, Jodi (Rodney) Dwyer, Laura Hartrum, David (Tammy) Hartrum, Wendi (Glenn) Crawford, Jacki Shepard, Belinda Atwell and Jeanette Pugh (Kevin); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by his niece, Ashley Dwyer; brother-in-law, Michael Shepard; and his mother-in-law, Ann Hartrum.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the funeral home.
The family respectfully requests that memorials in Jerry's name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
