A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Anne Trembly-Hannigan, 100, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 22, 2025, with Father David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark. Calling will be held at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 9:30-10:30 A.M. Thursday morning.
Mary Anne passed peacefully at Grant Medical Center on Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was born in Junction City, Ohio on October 4, 1924, to the late Paul and Clara (Gallin) Harnetty.
A graduate of Holy Trinity High School, Mary Anne attended the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, earning her RN Degree. She worked for several years at Mt. Carmel Hospital and also served as a cadet nurse during the war.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women of St. Francis, Walking with Purpose Bible Study, served with the Ministry of Comfort, and lead the Widows and Widowers group. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, and was unbeatable in a game of scrabble.
Mary Anne is survived by her children, Jean Trembly (Carol Christmas), David (Lori) Trembly, Bruce Trembly; grandchildren, Sarah (Anthony) Vinardi and Traci (Doug) Copper; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Autumn, Hunter, and A.J.; many nieces and nephews; and Paul Hannigan's children and their families.
In addition to her parents, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Robert Trembly; her second husband of 18 years, Paul Hannigan; and sisters, Margaret (James) McLaughlin, Sarah (Donald) Weisgerber, and Pauline (Charles) Ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 40 Granville Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
