A Funeral Mass for Mary Margaret Swank-Webber, 97, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 12 Noon, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Margaret, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died peacefully at her home and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Newark on September 4, 1921 to the late Henry John and Mary Ann (Schille) Bayer.

Margaret attended nursing school and received her RN degree from Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, and worked for many years with Dr. Petersilge in Newark. She was elected to the state office as president of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants, and also founded the Saint Anne's Community Outreach (SACO) located in Columbus, Georgia. She received several awards for her service and dedication, most notably those presented at the Old South Charity Ball by Cobb Memorial Hospital in 1970 and by the "Gracious Ladies of Georgia" presented at the Columbus Convention Center in 1988.

She embodied a heart of gold and was a very giving, compassionate, and gracious mother and friend. Margaret adored her family and will be greatly missed by her children, George E. (Bonnie) Swank Jr., John Thomas Swank, Gerard "Jerry" (Connie) Swank, Kim Thacker, and Holly Webber; her grandchildren, Jonathan Thacker, Sebastian Mentz, Alex Russell, Zachary Russell, and Justin Swank; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved doggies who were always by her side, Cherie` and Chloe`.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph Webber; and her four sisters, Catherine, Jeannette, Ann, and Jean.

The family requests memorials in Margaret's name be made to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, Ohio 43056.
