A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Mary Catherine Roddy, 89, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2021, with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.

Mary Catherine died at Altercare Newark South on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.  She was born in Vincent, Ohio on February 8, 1932, to the late James F. and Catherine (Potter) Roddy.

The eldest of seven children, Mary Catherine enjoyed her family and helped to care for her six younger brothers while they were young.  Although she experienced some challenges throughout her life, Mary Catherine was able to see the beauty around her.  She was devoted to her Catholic prayers, and took joy in God's creatures, especially birds.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles (Sandra) Roddy, Gregory (Carol) Roddy, Regis (Mary) Roddy, Anthony (Rebecca) Roddy; sister-in-law, Shirley Roddy; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her brothers, James (Sharon) Roddy and Patrick Roddy.

Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Monday, November 15, 2021, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 P.M.
