A Funeral Mass for Mary Elizabeth Skeen Miller, 89, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 21, 2017, with Rev. G. Michael Gribble as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Mary died at Arlington Care Center on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. She was born in Newark, Ohio on Jun 22, 1928, to the late Phillip and Margaret (Thomas) Herzog.

Mary was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Elementary and St. Francis de Sales High School. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Women of St. Francis. She was retired from First National Bank, Church Street, where she worked for many years in the bookkeeping department.


She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William L. Miller; her daughters, Sharon (William) Murphy and Jackie (Richard) Chester; step-children, Keely (Greg) Phelps and Kim (Jim) Angelhoff; grandchildren, Sean (Kerri) Murphy, Erin (Sam) Freas, Shannon (Josh) Smith, and Adam (Krystal) Slee; step-grandchildren, Alexis, Carly, Grace, Amber, and Ariel; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Skeen; her son, Patrick Skeen; and her brother, Gene "Pat" Herzog.

Friends and family may call from 2-5 P.M., Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M.
