Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Lou Mann, 83, of Newark, will be held at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 11 A.M., Thursday, September 13, 2018 with Fr. David Sizemore as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Mary, a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 9, 2018. She was born in Newark, Ohio on March 7, 1935 to the late Forrest "Cap" and Katherine (Raftery) Smith.
Mary worked for many years in retail sales at Kline's Department Store and Pal Joey Golf. Although she never learned to drive, Mary was well known for her back-seat driving. She loved to socialize with her family and many friends, and was an avid reader, especially fond of books written by Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel.
She is survived by her children, Pamela (James) Jeffries, Brad (Angie) Mann, and Patrick (Vickie) Mann; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Savannah, Jason (Michelle) Jennifer, and Brian (Lisa); 6 great-grandchildren, Carter, Alek, Addison, Liviana, Layton, and Caden; sisters, Nancy (Dewey) Blevins and Aggie (Dick) Dennis; sister-in-law, Patsy (Tom) Giles; brother-in-law, Bob Mann; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Louise "Weesie" Floyd.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Mann; siblings, Katherine Sue Smith, Joy Garee, Peggy (Jim) Roelle, Carol (Ronald) McDonald, Russell Smith, and David Smith; and sister-in-law, Patty Mann
Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4-7 P.M., Wednesday, September 12, 2018.
The family requests memorials in Mary's name be made to the American Heart Association Central Ohio Chapter, 5455 N. High Street Columbus, OH 43214.
