Mary Kay McKenzie, 75, of Newark, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. She was born Mary Catherine Nally in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, 1950 to the late William and Shirley (Ogg) Nally.

An open house celebrating Mary Kay's life will be hosted by the family at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 785 Newark-Granville Rd., Granville, OH 43023, 4-7 P.M., Friday, August 28, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 A.M. that day with Msgr. Paul Enke as celebrant. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mary Kay, a 1968 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, received her B.A. in Education from The Ohio State University - Newark, and her Master's degree in Administration from Ashland University. She was a teacher for 38 years and a principal for 2 years. In addition, she served as a teacher's union negotiator. Mary Kay was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Newark and St. Edward Church in Granville, and enjoyed being a "foodie," attending sporting events, doing athletic activities, going to the beach, and listening to the Bee Gees. She was fun, positive, loyal, devoted to her family, loved company and making connections, and always looked at life with a "glass-half-full" attitude.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Chad (Sonya), Matt (Kyla), Luke (Jennifer); Bailee and Austin McKenzie; grandchildren, Ian, Drew, Candace, Alivia, Boyer, Scarlet, Stella, Sienna, Aiden, and Blake; great-granddaughters, Khloe and Oakleigh; several nieces; siblings, Linda (Bob) McCullough and Marc Nally (Hoan); and many dear friends who were like family to her, including Anna Hacker and Sue and Steve Green.

In addition to her parents, Mary Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ronald.
