A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Louise (Giorgetti) Ellis, 92, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 24, 2025, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Newark.
Louise died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 10, 1933, to the late Alfredo and Noemi (Simi) Giorgetti.
A 1952 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Louise worked as the administrative secretary at Mathis Moving and Storage for 37 years. She was a devoted lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Women of St. Francis, Ministry of Comfort and the Rosary and Altar Society. She also served her local community as a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Rinascimento Lodge, St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry and the Licking County Jail Ministry Library. She was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and loved to listen to Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire".
She will be greatly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra (Dave) Shelly and Lori (Dan) Welsh; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Decker, Suzanne Rauch and Marlene Winters; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her sweetheart from the Southend and husband of 60 years, Richard E. Ellis; her beloved siblings, Sr. Coletta Giorgetti, O.P., Minnie (Wayne) Andrews, George (Madonna) Giorgetti, Giselda "Gussie" (Gerald) Ernest, and Irma (Don) Smith-DeVault; sister-in-law, Janet (Glenn) Jordan; and brothers-in-law Paul Smith, Roland Decker, Robert (Helen) Ellis, and Robert Rauch.
Calling hours will be held at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-6 P.M., Sunday, November 23, 2025, and will conclude with a Sons of Italy service held at 5:45 P.M.
Memorials in Louise's name can be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church; Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio; or the Licking County Humane Society.
The family of Louise extends their heartfelt gratitude to SharonBrooke Assisted Living for the care and many friendships provided and to Hospice of Central Ohio for their compassion and kindness.
