A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Mary Eleanor Galmish, 95, of Naperville, Illinois and formerly of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 12 Noon, Friday, February 13, 2026, with Fr. Tom Gardner as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, 11 A.M., Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Mary, a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Academy, died at StoryPoint Assisted Living, Naperville, Illinois, on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 15, 1930, to the late Joseph and Ruth (Connors) Isselstein.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Mary was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Ministry of Comfort, looked after the flowers, and dedicated many hours to cleaning the church sanctuary. She also volunteered for over 10 years with Hospice of Central Ohio.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, Joseph (Susan) Galmish, Michael (Darlene) Galmish, James (Stephanie) Galmish, and Christine (Shawn) Kirkwood; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Galmish; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, Nathaniel, Melanie (Mike), Alyssa, Brittany (Trey), Alanna (Russ), Aimee (Christopher), Rachel (Cody), Meagan, Hannah, Alec, and Caitlyn; 9 great-grandchildren, Rory, Maguire, Lily, Giana, Adaline, Josephine, Olivia, Logan, and Colton; sister, Elaine Faire; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril M. Galmish; son, Gregory C. Galmish; granddaughter, Julia Kirkwood; brother, Joseph Leo Isselstein; and sister, Joanne (George) Fornes.
Calling will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 9:30-11:30 A.M., concluding with a Rosary Service.
Memorials in Mary's name can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Newark.
