Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jo DiGiandomenico, 92, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at Saint Leonard Catholic Church (57 Dorsey Mill Road, Heath, OH) with Fr. William Hritsko officiating.  Friends and family may call from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church before Mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Newark.

Mrs. DiGiandomenico, a devoted member of St. Leonard Church, died in Newark on Monday, June 14.  She was born in Shinnston, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Litrena Belcastro. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Anthony John DiGiandomenico. Tony and Mary Jo were the original owners and operators of Tony's Restaurant and Bar, where Mary Jo was well known for her spaghetti and meatballs. They also engaged in farming and real estate.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Sarah Jane Danford, and siblings Patsy and Janice Belcastro.

Surviving Mary Jo are her sister, Gladys Louden; son-in-law, Jeffrey Danford; son, Leonardo (Suzanne) DiGiandomenico of Dublin; daughters, Gina DiGiandomenico (Dennis Johnston) of Westerville/Galena, and Elizabeth DiGiandomenico (Christopher Frederickson) of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Jessica (Todd) Dipre, Jodi (Donnie) Graber, Sevy (Kyle) Kraner, Anthony Warren DiGiandomenico, Christopher (Ashley) Neer, Benjamin (Danielle) Neer, Ryan Neer, Anthony Frederickson, and Gianna Frederickson; and great grandchildren, Tyler, Emerson, Lindsey, Brooke, Leighton, Luciana, Lennon, Savannah, Madison, Grace, Gio, and Dex.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Mary Jo's name to continue her compassion and support to St. Leonard Catholic Church, where she served on many committees and was in the Women's Guild.
