A Funeral Mass for Martha M. Rathgeb, 86, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2014, with Fr. Bob Penhallurick as celebrant. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark.

Martha died at the Chestnut House on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was born in Switzerland on November 6, 1927 to the late Fritz and Martha (Lieb En Goode) Duppenthaler.

As an artist, Martha would compose poetry and was a very talented painter. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was very devoted to her faith. She was a member of the Women of St. Francis, ARC Club, Ministry of Comfort, and served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by her sisters, Ida Duppenthaler Keller and Elisabeth Duppenthaler Siegrist, both of Switzerland; and several nieces and nephews also living in Switzerland. She also leaves behind many friends that dearly loved and cherished her. Martha's genuine kindness touched many.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband Friedrick "Fritz" Rathgeb; and her brother, Hans Duppenthaler.

Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the Mass on Friday.
