Obituary

Calling hours celebrating the beautiful life of Marlina Annette Medrano, 46, of Newark, will be held at the REED EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 3-8 P.M., Thursday, May 18, 2017. Private funeral services for Marlina will be held on Friday.

Marlina, a woman of great spirituality, was born in San Diego, California, on May 25, 1970, the daughter of Frani (Dale) Lovell of Newark, and Robert (Rita) Medrano of California. She died in Kirkersville, Ohio on Friday, May 12, 2017.

Marlina was a 1988 graduate of Newark High School and received her license in practical nursing from Mid East CTC, Zanesville. A natural caregiver, Marlina worked as a nurse in several capacities in the Licking County area. She embodied a big heart, and an even bigger smile which was often accompanied by a laugh contagious to those in her presence.

Her lively personality and adventurous spirit gained her many friends, but Marlina's genuine kindness toward her family and friends is what made her exceptional. Whether it was holding a hand during a crisis, volunteering to help move, or deliver a meal to be shared, Marlina's caring nature was witnessed by many.

In addition to her parents, Marlina will be greatly missed by her son, the light of her life, Benjamin Dale Frankenhoff; her sisters, Christina (Michael, deceased) Fleming, Alissa (Jason) Woolard, and Leilani Lovell; her nephews whom she adored, Adam (Molly) Fleming, Luke (Jessica) Fleming, and Wyatt Woolard; her half brother, Robert "JR" Medrano Jr.; her step-sister, Paulette Mendoza: her step-brother, Tim (Leticia) Bombardier; many aunts and uncles, especially her uncle, Glenn Lovell; and her aunt and Godmother, Yolanda Robledo; many cousins and countless friends.

The family requests that memorials in Marlina's name be made to the Center for New Beginnings, PO Box 786, Newark, Ohio 43058.
